2023-2024 Welcome Letter

Dear Rising WWMS Sixth-Grade Families,

West Wilkes Middle School staff is excited to welcome you to the Castle for the 2023-2024 school year! We strive to bring honor, pride, and victory to each and every student, as well to our community at large. To achieve growth and success, we believe this is done through strong communication and collaboration between school staff,  parents/guardians, students, and community members.

As you start planning for the upcoming school year, we know you have many questions. Students, we hope your day here at the Castle has helped answer many questions you had, relieved some stresses, and filled you with excitement for the coming school year. Parents, they’re important dates to keep in mind when planning for this summer and the beginning of the year. Please see the information below about Summer Bridge and Jump Start Camp.

Summer Bridge and Career Accelerator Camp

Summer Bridge will be offered from June 19-29, 2023,  Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at West Wilkes Middle Schools. This 2-week camp for rising 6th graders will provide fun-filled days to help students become better acquainted with their new school and explore possible pathways to graduation. The registration deadline is April 28, 2023.

Jump Start Camp

Sixth-grade teachers will host Jump Start camp on Friday, August 18 from 4:00- 6:00 pm. At this time students learn the basics of sixth-grade expectations, receive schedules and required forms, meet their teachers and classmates. Parents will be informed of West Wilkes Middle School expectations and receive support with getting everything your student needs: buses, school nurse, athletics, etc. This will also be a great time to get connected with WWMS Athletic Boosters and PTO.

In planning for the upcoming school year, we encourage you to have a look at the Wilkes County Schools Middle School Handbook and West Wilkes Middle Student Handbook. The student handbook is located on our school website and in the links provided. For easy access to this information, this letter will be posted on the school website and Facebook. We encourage you to follow the West Wilkes Middle School Facebook page. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year and will see you in the fall!

Sincerely,

Heather Pardue
